Who can you leave gifts to in your Will?

The law states that you have the right to leave your money and your possessions to whomever you choose in your Will.  However, if you leave a gift to a child under the age of 18, the gift will need to be held by your executors (or a parent or guardian of the child if your executor deems it appropriate) until they reach adulthood.

It’s really important to note that any items you leave as gifts must be carefully and clearly described as if there is confusion after you die about which items you were referring to in your Will, the gift may fail which means it is not gifted and instead becomes part of the residuary estate.
